Senior Project Designer
Location: Coral Gables, FL | Full-Time | Architecture & Design Sector
A nationally recognized design-focused architecture firm is seeking a Senior Project Designer to join its Miami-area team. This leadership role is ideal for a creative, technically skilled, and forward-thinking design professional with 10-15+ years of experience. The ideal candidate will lead conceptual and schematic design across a range of complex projects, guiding design vision while ensuring alignment with client values, budget, sustainability, and performance goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to all phases of the design process with a high level of creativity, skill, and technical knowledge.
- Generate and develop schematic design concepts, including presentation drawings, physical and digital models, and narratives.
- Balance design excellence with project constraints, including schedule, budget, code requirements, and site context.
- Evaluate design alternatives with attention to environmental, regulatory, and spatial factors.
- Apply advanced understanding of building materials, construction methods, technology, and codes to elevate the quality and feasibility of design work.
- Prepare and deliver compelling client presentation packages, awards submissions, and external publications.
- Lead or support marketing and business development efforts, contributing to successful client relationships and new project opportunities.
- Use graphic storytelling and visualizations to clearly communicate design ideas internally and externally.
- Lead or facilitate internal design reviews, charrettes, and community engagement sessions.
- Mentor junior designers and foster an environment of collaboration and innovation.
- Coordinate effectively with consultants and internal teams during schematic and design development phases.
- Ensure design documentation aligns with firm standards and the Project Delivery Manual.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related discipline (required)
- Architectural license (preferred)
- 10-15+ years of experience in architectural design with proven leadership in conceptual development
- LEED Green Associate (required within 6 months of hire)
- Professional accreditation in a sustainability or performance design discipline encouraged (e.g. LEED AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House, Living Future Accreditation, etc.)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, professional work ethic
